A study guide built entirely from the current Slovenian edition of the book: every word in the book as a lemma with its forms, case examples taken from the story, grammar lessons with book sentences, translation drills over every aligned sentence, and a paragraph-by-paragraph bilingual reader. How to use this page

The fastest loop is read → notice → retrieve → use. Read one chapter in the Reader, set the Vocabulary deck to the same chapter, answer that chapter's case questions, then translate a few of its sentences without looking.

1 · ReadOpen a chapter in the Reader. Try “Slovenian + tap for English”, and tap any unfamiliar word for its meaning.
2 · RetrieveFilter Flashcards, Match and Cloze to the chapter you just read. Mark words you know; the deck can hide them.

The six cases

Start from the question the noun answers: kdo? kaj? (subject), koga? česa? (of what / what is missing), komu? (to whom), koga? kaj? kam? (what is affected / where to), kje? o čem? (where / about what), s kom? s čim? (with what). Prepositions usually decide the case for you.

Common endings — quick reference

A simplified table using koš (m.) · žoga (f.) · igrišče (n.). Slovenian also has dual forms for two (dve vprašanji, dve očesi), and animate masculine nouns use the genitive form in the accusative (igralec → igralca*).

All Slovenian examples are sentences from the book; the English lines are the matching sentences of the English edition, which the Slovenian text follows paragraph for paragraph. Where a paragraph splits into a different number of sentences in the two languages, the whole English paragraph is shown.
