Küçük Oyuncu

A study guide built entirely from the current Turkish edition of the book: every word in the book as a lemma with its forms, case examples taken from the story, grammar lessons with book sentences, translation drills over every aligned sentence, and a paragraph-by-paragraph bilingual reader. Tap any Turkish word in the Reader or the Translation Lab to see what it means.

How to use this page

The fastest loop is read → notice → retrieve → use. Read one chapter in the Reader, set the Vocabulary deck to the same chapter, answer that chapter's case questions, then translate a few of its sentences without looking.

1 · ReadOpen a chapter in the Reader. Try “Turkish + tap for English”, and tap any unfamiliar word for its meaning.
2 · RetrieveFilter Flashcards, Match and Cloze to the chapter you just read. Mark words you know; the deck can hide them.
3 · ProduceTranslation Lab uses every aligned sentence of the book, in both directions. Turkish → English checks comprehension; English → Turkish builds production.

The seven cases

Turkish adds case endings to the noun, after any plural or possessive ending. The key distinction is the object: a definite object takes -ı (topu tuttu), an indefinite one takes nothing (bir top aldı). Place words are nouns too: masanın yanında (beside the table), yanına (to beside it), yanından (from beside it).

Case detective

Every question is a real sentence from the book. Name the case of the highlighted words.

Common endings — quick reference

Endings follow vowel harmony (-da / -de, -ı / -i / -u / -ü); after a vowel, y or n is added (sahayı, sahaya, sahanın); after ç, f, h, k, p, s, ş, t the d turns into t (kâğıtta, kanattan). Many stems soften before a vowel: çocuk → çocuğa, kitap → kitabı.
