Players choose the challenge
Cue
Which option helps you now?
Principle
A real choice, and knowing why: autonomy inside the structure.
Set-up
Offer two familiar options with the same purpose: catch and pass immediately, or catch and attack a gate. Pairs choose one, try for 60 seconds and may swap. Keep appropriate difficulty; choice is about the task, not who gets picked last.
Where this fits
Solves Order
By layer
| Layer 0Aware | Two simple options, short distance. |
| Layer 1Control | The player explains why they choose this option. |
| Layer 2Shape your own | Choose under light pressure. |
How do you coach it?
Player-centred: variation, questions and room to find a solution.
Precise correction of form is not the criterion here.

Can players explain what they are practising?
