Catch and act
Cue
Hands ready before the ball arrives.
Principle
Catching is a subject of its own: a poor catch makes every next choice worse.
Set-up
Groups of three with one ball. A passes to B moving into space. B receives under control and passes to C. Rotate roles after each sequence. Show where the receiver wants the ball. Add pressure when the base task works; avoid a long queue.
Where this fits
By layer
| Layer 0Aware | Short passes, catch standing still. |
| Layer 1Control | Catch on the move and act at once. |
| Layer 2Shape your own | Lightly defended; find a new passing angle. |
How do you coach it?
Short and precise, coach-led, at most about 10 minutes. Then back to play.
Autonomy is not the criterion here.

Easier
Shorter pass and receive stationary first.
Harder
C defends lightly and B finds a new passing angle.
Question to observe
Are the hands ready, and is possession useful for the next action?
