Rebound battle: find, contact, take
Find, contact, take.
Principle
Contact is not a fight: you make it legally, hold it and release it when you want.
Set-up
A ball on the floor in the paint, or the coach misses a shot. Pairs around the ball.
Rules
On the signal: find your opponent, make legal contact with your back, keep them away for three counts, then take the ball. Everyone goes, every time.
Scoring
Ball taken = 1. Pushing with hands or arms = point for the other.

| Layer 0Aware | Back-to-back pushing in balance, no ball. |
| Layer 1Control | Find, contact, take on a ball on the floor. |
| Layer 2Shape your own | Box out on a real shot, two-hand rebound. |
| Layer 3Shape others | Offensive rebound battle: get around the box-out. |
How do you coach it?
Intensity, emotion and consequence. The coach protects the rules and stops play as little as possible.
Long explanations and technical correction during play do not belong here.

Works on
Making, keeping and releasing legal contact
Easier
Slowly, no ball: only hold the contact.
Harder
3-on-3 on a real shot; the rebounder starts the outlet at once.
Question to observe
Do they look for the contact, or only run to the ball?
