Contain or go: when to go for the ball?
Go when it's safe, otherwise contain.
Principle
Aggressive and annoying, but legal and safe; go for the ball only when the team is safe behind you.
Set-up
1-on-1 in a lane, then 2-on-2 in the half court.
Rules
The defender may go for the ball once per possession. If the steal fails and the attack scores, the score counts double.
Scoring
Steal = 2. Stop without a steal = 1. Score after a failed gamble = 4 for the attack.

By layer
| Layer 0Aware | Mirror game: stay in front of your partner, tap the ball only when they bounce it high. |
| Layer 1Control | Choose when to go for the ball and when to contain. |
| Layer 2Shape your own | Only go when the team is safe behind you. |
| Layer 3Shape others | Agree as a team when we put on pressure. |
How do you coach it?
Player-centred: variation, questions and room to find a solution.
Precise correction of form is not the criterion here.

Works on
Positive aggression without leaving the team 4-on-5
Easier
The attack dribbles slowly.
Harder
2-on-2: go only when your partner covers you.
Question to observe
Do they gamble on every ball, or choose the moment?
