Driving on 1-on-0.9
Half a step ahead? Go.
Principle
After a drive you need at least 1-on-0.9: a small advantage in time or space. Then you go. Otherwise it is not a shot but a throw.
Set-up
From the wing, 1-on-1. The defender starts half a step behind or beside the attacker.
Rules
If you have a small advantage in time or space, go to the rim. No advantage: stop in balance, pivot away and pass to the coach or a teammate outside. No throwing.
Scoring
A finish after a real advantage = 2. A good decision to pass back = 1. A throw without an advantage = 0, even if it goes in.

By layer
| Layer 0Aware | Race to the rim against a chaser. |
| Layer 1Control | Recognise the advantage and go at once; otherwise stop in balance. |
| Layer 2Shape your own | Create the advantage yourself with a fake or change of pace, and use contact for balance. |
| Layer 3Shape others | Use the drive to draw the help defender and pass the advantage on. |
How do you coach it?
Player-centred: variation, questions and room to find a solution.
Precise correction of form is not the criterion here.

Works on
Feeling the advantage and going at once; knowing when not to
Easier
The defender starts a full step behind.
Harder
The defender starts level; a help defender in the paint.
Question to observe
Does the player go on the advantage, or wait until it is gone?
