Ultimate with a basketball
Cut to the empty space, at the right moment.
Principle
You can shape space and time without the ball, and without dribbling it shows best.
Set-up
Full court, two teams, one ball. The area behind the baseline is the end zone.
Rules
With the ball you stand still (pivoting is fine). Pass within five counts. Score: a catch in the end zone. Defenders keep an arm's length.
Scoring
Catch in the end zone = 1.

| Layer 2Shape your own | Cut at the moment the passer is ready. |
| Layer 3Shape others | Agree who cuts deep and who comes to the ball. |
How do you coach it?
Player-centred: variation, questions and room to find a solution.
Precise correction of form is not the criterion here.

Works on
Cutting, getting free and timing without dribbling
Easier
Seven counts; bigger court.
Harder
Three counts; a catch only counts in balance.
Question to observe
Do they cut when the passer is ready, or too early?
