Legal contact
Creating, holding and releasing contact when you want, within the rules, on both sides of the ball.
Cue
Chest first, hands home.
Why
Contact is in the game from the start. Learned step by step, it gives courage, keeps players safe and is used for balance and space instead of pushing.
When can they do it?
| Layer 0Aware | Bumps and falls safely in games and laughs about it. |
| Layer 1Control | Keeps the ball and stays up under contact on the ball. |
| Layer 2Shape your own | Uses contact for balance and space on a finish. |
| Layer 3Shape others | Uses contact to move others, legally. |
What to watch
- Contact with the torso, not hands or arms
- Staying in balance on a bump
What often goes wrong
