Chase race: sprint back and stop the ball
First run, then chest, only then hands.
Principle
Running back means all the way, until you are in front of the ball.
Set-up
Two lines on the baseline: attackers with a ball, defenders without.
Rules
The attacker dribbles to the other basket. The defender may only start after the first dribble, runs until in front of the ball, and stops it with the chest. No reaching from behind.
Scoring
Defender in front of the ball before the three-point line without reaching = 1 for the defender. Lay-up = 1 for the attacker. Reaching from behind = 2 for the attacker.

By layer
| Layer 0Aware | Only the race: who reaches the other free-throw line first? |
| Layer 1Control | Chest in front, make the ball slow down. |
| Layer 2Shape your own | Choose: stop the ball or cut off the pass to the lane. |
| Layer 3Shape others | In 2-on-2, talk: who takes the ball, who takes the runner? |
How do you coach it?
Intensity, emotion and consequence. The coach protects the rules and stops play as little as possible.
Long explanations and technical correction during play do not belong here.

Works on
Running back until you are in front of the ball, chest first, legal contact
Easier
Defender starts beside the attacker.
Harder
2-on-2: defenders start later and must stop the ball first, then find their own player.
Question to observe
Does the defender run until in front of the ball, or reach from the side?
